On 12th October 2023, the Central Bank of Nigeria (“CBN”) issued a press release removing the previous exclusion on the 43 items under the CBN 2015 circular and allowing them to access the Nigerian Foreign Exchange (“FX”) market. This new policy was preceded by CBN’s unification of the Foreign Exchange market into one segment being the Investors’ and Exporters’ window. Our Energy and Finance Team has prepared this commentary to educate on the implications of this massive policy shift.
