Anthony Nwaochei, FBR
Tony is the Managing Partner and heads the Business Advisory Practice Team of The Law Crest LLP. Before assuming his role as founding Managing Partner of the Firm, Tony, between 1994 and 1999 was the Company Secretary & General Counsel of Societe Bancaire Merchant Bankers, a Swiss/French owned Banking institution, licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and over-saw the Human Resources and Corporate Services departments of the Bank as well.
Tony Is a consummate solicitor who regularly advises on Investments; Mergers, Acquisitions & Corporate Restructuring; Corporate Governance & Regulatory Compliance; Construction & Real Estate; and Business Recovery & Insolvency and in the course of his work over the years has advised on a significant number of complex commercial transactions involving some of the biggest players in the Nigerian economy. Tony is an astute Insolvency & Business Recovery practitioner who is frequently appointed as a liquidator and receiver/manager by leading financial institutions.
He is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association, International Bar Association, International Trademarks Association (INTA) and Capital Market Solicitors Association. He is also a Fellow of the Business Recovery and Insolvency Practitioners Association of Nigeria (BRIPAN) and previously sat on its council. He was the founding Chairman of the Employment & Industrial Relations Committee of the Section on Business Law of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA- SBL) and previously sat on the Council of the NBA-SBL. Tony Chaired the Remuneration Committee established by the President of the Nigerian Bar Association in 2021 which delivered a highly commended 126-page report, the key recommendations of which were adopted in a white-paper issued in 2022 by a committee of which he was also a member. He was also a member of the Remuneration Order Committee established by the NBA President in 2023 to come up with a draft Remuneration Order and culminated in the eventual passing into law of the Legal Practitioners Remuneration Order 2023.
